Author, Illustrator & Educator
Director of Happy Hero
Nicky Johnston is an experienced primary school teacher, an accomplished artist and professional Make-up Artist.
"Go Away, Mr Worrythoughts!" is Nicky's first children's book published by Nicky's Art in 2008. Her second book "Happythoughts are Everywhere..." was released August 2009.
After the diagnosis with her eldest son's anxiety disorder, Nicky has successfully turned this negative situation into a very positive outcome. Nicky has become an expert in supporting educators, parents and youth workers in dealing with little worriers, and continues to develop new resources.
With the success of both books, Nicky loves the opportunity to visit schools, sharing her journey of becoming a successful author and illustrator, inspiring students to become writers themselves. With her amazing displays of original artworks from the books and her humourous and talented presentation skills, Nicky is able to help children understand the process in publishing a children's book.
Nicky is also available for professional development sessions for workshops, conferences and parent support groups. By sharing her journey, knowledge and insight in dealing with a child with a mental health issue she can support parents, teachers, carers and mental health professionals who know a little worrier.
